Bugoy Cariño and EJ Laure are officially a married couple

Young actor Bugoy Cariño and volleyball player EJ Laure got married on Sunday, March 9, 2025.

Bugoy and EJ are officially married now, years after they started their relationship. They got engaged on September 3, 2023. That was during the actor’s birthday party. He proposed to his partner in front of their friends and loved ones.

Their relationship went through a controversial phase. After trying to hide the real score between them, it was later on confirmed that they were a couple already. In 2020, they finally revealed the truth.

At that time, Bugoy Cariño was just 16 years old while EJ Laure was 21. They admitted their relationship and introduced their baby Scarlet. This did not sit well with many netizens.

EJ received a tremendous amount of bashing on social media for having a romantic relationship with Bugoy when he was still a minor. Some even accused the volleyball player of child grooming.

Amid the bashing that EJ received, Bugoy did not hesitate to fire back at the bashers of his partner.

The actor became a father during the height of his career. He was a member of the defunct It’s Showtime all-male group Hashtag. It was rumored back in 2017 that he was suspended from the group and at that time, EJ did not play for a new season.

In an interview back in 2023, Bugoy admitted that he had “panghihinayang” being a father at 16. A lot of projects slipped from his hand. However, despite that rough chapter in their relationship, Bugoy and EJ continued to love each other.

Months after the engagement happened, the couple tied the knot, based on the article in PEP. The couple got married in a church wedding in Tagaytay. They looked stunning in their wedding outfits. As of this writing, no further details yet were shared.
