Gladys Guevarra Shares Thoughts on Duterte’s Arrest
GLADYS GUEVARRA – Comedian and actress Gladys Guevarra has spoken out about Duterte’s arrest, urging Filipinos to remain calm and respectful amid the political tension.
Gladys Guevarra recently opened up about the arrest of former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, expressing admiration for him while urging Filipinos to stay calm and respectful amid the political unrest.
A day after Duterte’s arrest, Guevarra took to Instagram to reflect on a personal encounter with the former president that left a lasting impact. She shared that when she met and hugged Duterte, she didn’t feel like she was with a politician but rather a protective father figure. “Hindi presidente o politiko ang naramdaman ko nung makamayan at mayakap ko sya, kundi isang ama, o tatay na gusto lamang eh protektahan ka sa anumang pwedeng panganib,” she wrote, describing the warmth and sense of safety she felt.

Guevarra clarified that her admiration for Duterte is rooted in personal experience rather than political loyalty. She admitted that she has never registered to vote, emphasizing that her feelings toward Duterte are based on their interaction rather than political beliefs.
Amid the growing division following Duterte’s arrest, Guevarra called for understanding and unity among Filipinos. She acknowledged the opposing views on the issue but encouraged people to remain respectful and avoid online conflicts. “Wala ng unfriend-an, wag tayo ang mag-away away. Ang gulo na eh! Kahit para sa bayan nalang natin,” she said, stressing the importance of respecting differing opinions.

Guevarra also urged Filipinos to pray for healing within the government and the safety of the nation during this politically challenging time. Her message of peace comes as the country remains divided over Duterte’s legal troubles—some see it as a step toward accountability, while others, like Guevarra, express support for the former leader.
In the midst of political tension, Guevarra’s call for respect and harmony stands as a reminder for Filipinos to stay united despite their differences.
