Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin Return to the Big Screen in 'Ex Ex Lovers" - YouTube

Marvin Agustin opened up about why he did not attend Jolina Magdangal’s wedding.

Jolina got married to Mark Escueta on November 21, 2011. In an interview with Karen Davila, Marvin admitted that he deliberately chose not to be present on her wedding day.

“Nagtampo si Jolina ng major nun kasi di ko naman masabi sa kanya because wala namang chance. I actually chose not to really go to her wedding, it was really my decision not to go, even ininvite talaga ako ni Jolina,” he relayed.

The actor further pointed out that he didn’t want to draw unnecessary attention to himself on a day that should have been solely about the bride and groom.

“Was that all in my head, ang assuming ko ba na pagtitinginan ako ng mga tao? But I guess baka mangyari ‘yun. I don’t want to steal an inch or a little whatever moment for the couple supposedly that special day,” he said.

Asked if there was a bit of sadness when Jolina tied the knot, Marvin stressed: “Wala. I am so happy for Jolina because when you find the right person that you would marry and spend the rest of your life with, won’t you be happy for that person?”

He went on: “I am that hundred percent completely happy because I know Mark, hindi ko man siya kilala na kasing kilala ko ngayon, but I know that he is a decent guy, good guy and I want Jolina to end up with a good guy like him.”

Jolina confessed that she did not initially understand why Marvin did not attend her wedding but later found out the real reason when they did an interview.

“Hindi ko maintindihan [kasi] siya ‘yung isa sa una ko talagang sinabihan, ito ‘yung date, hindi ko nga inannounce sa TV pero ‘yung mga kilala ko talaga so inexpect ko na nandun siya kasi I consider him na that time isa na ‘to sa close friends ko di ba? And sabi niya nga biglang nagkaroon siya ng Cebu so hindi ko talaga inaaccept lahat ng reason niya hanggang nung sinabi niya ‘yun sa isang interview,” she said.

She added: “Nung sinabi na niya ‘yun parang in a way dahil nire-respeto ko rin si Marvin, I will accept it.”

Marvin and Jolina are set to star in their reunion movie Ex Ex Lovers, to be released in cinemas on February 13.

The onscreen partners described Ex Ex Lovers as their dream project.

“This genre na ‘yung ’90s vibes na rom-com, ‘yung makulit lang talaga at masaya. Plus at the same time having Tonette (Jadaone) and Dan (Villegas) and Project8Project behind the project, iba ‘yung substance na nilagay nila doon sa backdrop ng kulitan at saya lang. May hugot at may lalim silang mare-realize—’yung mga couples kung ano ‘yung mga pinagdadaanan ngayon—so nandun ‘yung ganda din ng pelikula bukod sa of course nakakakilig siya,” Marvin said in a recent interview with Boy Abunda.

Jolina highlighted that through this movie, they wanted to recreate the kilig and joy that they brought before to their fans as a love team.

“Nung time na sobang kilig na kilig talaga ‘yung mga tao sa amin nung bata kami, parang dream din namin na ibigay sa kanila ‘yung kasiyahan ulit, i-recreate and ganito na ‘yung estado ng buhay namin, ganito na kalalim ‘yung friendship namin, na gusto namin para rin sa kanila kaya dream project namin ni Marvin with them,” she remarked.
