Christopher de Leon admits ex-wife and Superstar Nora Aunor still “excites” him
Christopher de Leon Talks About Reuniting with Nora Aunor On-Screen: “A Spark… That’s It. Mama Guy Already Answered It.”
The King of Drama, Christopher de Leon, continues to admire his former wife and longtime on-screen partner, Superstar Nora Aunor.
On the night of September 22, at SM The Block Cinema 2, after the red-carpet premiere of TV5’s first-ever mini-series Sa Ngalan Ng Ina, which stars both of them, Boyet once again expressed his admiration for Ate Guy.
“I’m very proud to be in this project. And I’m so happy to be working again with director Mario O’Hara. And, of course, director Jon Red and the one and only Superstar. She’s still amazing. After eight years away from showbiz, she’s still the one… number one.”
The actor also shared his excitement about the series’ pilot episode, saying, “What I saw was great, and there’s more to come.”
Christopher plays Pepe Ilustre in Sa Ngalan Ng Ina, the husband of Lucia Ilustre (played by Rosanna Roces), while also having a past with Nora’s character, Elena Deogracias. The series also stars Ian de Leon, Nadine Samonte, Alwyn Uytingco, Edgar Allan Guzman, Eula Caballero, Karel Marquez, Joross Gamboa, Jay Aquitania, and special appearances by Eugene Domingo and Bembol Roco.
Bringing Back Memories
Since Christopher and Nora’s characters share a romantic past in the series, the two admitted that they could relate, given their own history—which even led to the birth of their son, Ian de Leon.
When asked by the press if their reunion brought back any memories, Ate Guy responded:
“You know, when two people share a past—and this [Ian] is the result—you can’t just erase that. Of course, first and foremost, Papa Boyet is an incredible actor. He’s my idol. Whenever we have scenes together, I still get nervous. That connection will always be there. But that’s all in the past.”
Christopher agreed, adding:
“A spark… that’s it. Mama Guy already answered it. Of course, there’s nervousness—you can’t quite explain it. But the connection comes easy. Once we start working, the rapport is there. You just know what to do. It’s a nice feeling to see her again. I am so happy that she is doing very, very well, especially with this project. This is a great opportunity for Mama Guy and for all of us. And yes, there’s always that ‘spark.’ Ian is always there too. We just had fun and enjoyed our time on set. It’s really nice working with her again.”
