Tito Sotto Blames Rey dela Cruz For Pepsi Paloma Issue

Tito Sotto was asked about the Pepsi Paloma issue

Eat Bulaga host Tito Sotto blamed late manager Rey dela Cruz for the issue involving late actress Pepsi Paloma.

Pepsi rose to fame in the 80s as one of the Softdrink Beauties who starred in sultry movies. Her life became controversial when she accused comedian-host Vic Sotto of r@ping her and filed a case against him.

Pepsi eventually withdrew the case. However, the issue continued to haunt the people dragged into it until now, especially when director Darryl Yap announced his Pepsi Paloma movie.

This prompted Vic to file 19 counts of cyber libel against Darryl. In a recent interview on ABS-CBN’s senatorial interview Harapan 2025, based on the article in Inquirer, Tito Sotto was asked to share his thoughts on the Pepsi Paloma issue involving Vic and if this would affect his senatorial bid for the 2025 midterm elections.

The former Senate President stressed that this all started with a gimmick 42 years ago. Previously, Coca Nicolas, one of the Softdrink Beauties, said the r@pe case against Vic was a gimmick orchestrated by their manager.

“Sa tagal-tagal ng panahon na walang problema sa brother ko [Vic Sotto], meron nang nakaisip bumaling. Baka pera ang usapan diyan or meron gustong siraan. ‘Yun lang ang pupuntahan niyan,” Tito said.

He also said that Rey dela Cruz just wanted to get back to his family because one of his talents was not paid for a TV guesting.

Tito said that they have long been put this issue to oblivion because they knew how this all started. “Gusto maka-singil ni Rey dela Cruz sa guesting ng artists niya na hindi makasingil, ‘yun talaga ang nagsimula pero wala ng iba,” he said. However, Tito did not elaborate on this.

The politician has previously denied that he received a copy of the script of the Pepsi Paloma movie.
