Nadine Lustre recounts encounter with BLACKPINK’s Lisa; reacts to Park Min Kyu’s comment

Nadine Lustre is reveling in the excitement of attending fashion extravaganzas abroad.

In March, she and former Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach represented the Philippines at the prestigious BVLGARI Studio global event held at the Theatre des Lumieres in Seoul, South Korea.

Speaking to Nadine described the experience as pure fun.

“Honestly, it was really fun,” Nadine said in an exclusive interview during the Vision Express’ Summer Solstice party on April 16, 2024.

“I didn’t expect it to be that much fun. Sobrang na-enjoy ko yung music.”

At the Bulgari event, Nadine was thrilled to meet K-Pop superstars, including Lalisa Manoban from BLACKPINK and Kim Mingyu from SEVENTEEN.

Although tempted to fangirl over Lisa during the event, Nadine chose to respect her space and refrained from approaching her.

She said, “I guess with the Korean artists kasi, noong nakita ko si Lisa, si Lisa lang talaga kasi kilala ko.

“Of course, I mean, sino ba naman ang hindi nakakakilala sa kanya, di ba?

“Pero, noong nakita ko kasi siya, even though I wanted to try and take a photo with her, in a way parang ni-respect ko na lang din.

“Kasi noong time na maraming nagpapa-picture sa kanya, nakaupo siya sa table nila.

“So parang ako naman, hindi naman sa nahihiya pero, parang in a way, as an artist also, parang I didn’t want to be part of the group of people na nakapila to get photos with her.”

Nadine shared that there were several moments when she could have snapped a photo with Lisa. However, she deliberately refrained from doing so out of respect for Lisa’s personal space during the event.

She continued, “Tapos merong time pa noong may nag-i-spin na DJ, nasa may railing kami, kasama ko si Pia tsaka si Chris [Bariou], yung boyfriend ko, paglingon ko nandoon si Lisa sa may likod ko, pero kumakain siya.

“So parang yung time na yun, naiisip ko na rin na, ‘Magpa-picture kaya ako?’ But then, she was eating. So, parang ako, ‘A, she’s having a human moment.’

“So, I don’t want to [disturb], I respect that [her space].”

“Ako naman, if I do get a chance to meet someone, like some of my idols and what not, if it’s like a good time to, not naman bother, but to ask for a favor like ask for a photo, or just talk to them, ako okay na ako, like, makamayan yung mga idols ko.

“Masaya na ako sa ganon. I respect them.”

NADINE LUSTRE: FILIPINA BEAUTY

Nadine made a significant impact at the event, so much so that she caught the attention of headlines when Single Inferno 3 star Park Min Kyu was captivated by her beauty.

Sharing an Instagram Reel featuring himself with Nadine at the event, Min Kyu expressed his admiration in the comments, noting, “She was absolutely stunning,” and “It was a pleasure to be by her side.”

What was Nadine’s reaction when she found out about Min Kyu’s comment?

Nadine simply said, “Thank you!”

“Nalaman ko yun, actually, later na. But, super happy na everywhere in the world, like Filipino beauty is recognizable.”

That being said, Nadine advocates for Filipinos to take their place on the global stage, emphasizing the need for increased recognition and representation of Filipino talent and beauty internationally.

“At some point naman, dapat talaga maging visible na yung Filipinos. Especially, for Filipino artists like me, I’m very proud to be Filipino.

“So, as much as possible it’s really, like, what I put in the forefront.

“Every time some people ask me when I’m abroad – when they ask me where I’m from, syempre, I proudly say I’m Filipino.

“Saka, parang it’s about time na we start exploring, and the Philippines start opening up to everyone else. There’s a lot of talent in the Philippines.

“The Philippines is such a beautiful country, with beautiful people. So, it’s time naman na ma-recognize tayo ng mas marami pang mga tao.”

NADINE LUSTRE: NEW MUSIC

Meanwhile, many of Nadine’s fans been clamoring for Nadine to release new music.

Is she working on an album?

Nadine remained tight-lipped and said, “I’m not announcing anything for now, but I am starting to work on music again.

“Music is something na gusto ko talagang gawin, e. I really want to write again, and work with different producers, work with different artists. Fun siya for me.

“It’s a creative [inaudible], I’m definitely working on music this year. Abangan niyo na lang.”
