Jodi Sta Maria talked about her big teleserye break

Kapamilya actress Jodi Sta Maria revealed that she was not the first choice for the series Be Careful With My Heart.

Jodi is tagged as the Silent Superstar had a big break in the said morning drama series that aired from 2012 to 2014.

Her lead role in a series came years after she started her showbiz career and did several supporting roles. In Be Careful With My Heart, she was paired with Richard Yap and their tandem surprisingly became a hit.

The series also featured Sylvia Sanchez, Ice Seguerra, Janella Salvador, Marlo Mortel, Mutya Orquia, Gloria Sevilla, and Jerome Ponce.

In a recent interview on Diamond Star Maricel Soriano’s YouTube channel, based on the article in Balita, Jodi Sta Maria revealed that she was just the second choice for the lead female role in the said series.

She shared that Be Careful With My Heart was just an experimental series. However, Jodi did not reveal who the first choice was. She said that she was supposed to do a primetime series at that time but there was no go signal yet so she accepted the morning drama series and it was also initially planned that it was just for three months or equivalent to one season.

The actress admitted that she could not believe that from three months, the series lasted for two years because her tandem with Richard was well-accepted by the viewers.

When asked what was the secret that the show lasted longer than it was initially planned and the viewers really supported it, Jodi Sta Maria said that it was because the story was filled with Filipino values about family and it was just light since there was no intense “kontrabida.” Through this, doors opened for Jodi and she was offered lead roles in series and movies.
