During a thrilling gold medal match at the 2024 Paralympics, India’s Kumar Nitesh faced off against Great Britain’s Daniel Bethell. The game, filled with intense moments, saw Nitesh ultimately triumph, securing India’s third gold medal of the games with a nail-biting third set that ended 23-21 in his favor.

Amid the excitement, the English commentator couldn’t help but reference iconic Indian cricketer, Virat Kohli. While discussing Nitesh’s impressive achievements at the 2019 and 2022 World Championships and the Asian Para Games, the commentator mentioned Kohli as Nitesh’s role model. He described Kohli as “the wonderful Indian cricketer” and noted that Kohli, a former captain of the Indian team, has been a significant inspiration for many athletes across India.

“His hero is Virat Kohli, the wonderful Indian cricketer….I think most people in India have Virat Kohli as sporting hero,” the commentator said.

Virat Kohli, who recently played a crucial role in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 campaign, was named Player of the Match for his impressive 76 runs off 59 balls. This victory added to Kohli’s already illustrious career, marking his third ICC title, following the 2011 50-over World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy.
