MANILA — Just four episodes in, viewers of the Prime Video series ‘Saving Grace’ are raving over the child actress Zia Grace’s acting chops, especially in emotionally packed-scenes with co-stars Julia Montes, Sharon Cuneta, Jennica Garcia and Christian Bables.

ABS-CBN News sat down with Zia together with her parents Alex and Jen, and they shared how Zia’s interest in acting started.

Back in 2023, Zia started appearing in TV commercials. They learned about an audition, through a talent scout, that Dreamscape Entertainment is looking for a child actor. Zia’s parents had no clue that it was for a big teleserye. They received numerous callbacks until that day arrived when Zia had to act alongside Julia Montes for a look test. The day after, they found out that Zia was already chosen, out of more than 120 hopefuls.

Zia can still remember that day. “Medyo kinakabahan po ako noon. Pina-acting po ako, sing at saka dance po,” she said.

The seven year old-kid said it’s her dream to become an actor. “Opo, like Ate Julia. Pag nakikita ko si Ate Julia, nilalambing ko po siya, kiss kiss hug hug,” she said.

At home, Zia’s parents would catch her acting and dancing infront of the mirror. But they were surprised that Zia can cry in more than one sequence. On the set, Zia enjoys spending time with her co-actors and directors.

Aside from Montes, Zia dreams to work with another Kapamilya superstar.

“Si Ate Kathryn (Bernardo) po kasi sobrang idol ko po siya. Sobrang galing nya po at pangarap ko maging ganun po like Ate Kathryn,” she said.
