Olivia Rodrigo shared never-before-seen moments taken during her Manila visit, including how she turned emotional after holding her GUTS concert at the Philippine Arena in October.
In a recap video released on her YouTube channel on Dec. 4, the Fil-Am hitmaker opened up about how excited and nervous she was feeling ahead of her first-ever show in the country.
“[I’m] excited [and] a little nervous, I think it’s going to be kind of emotional,” she said a day before the concert.
“I’m just thinking about all those people in the Philippines coming to see me and singing my songs—it’s truly meaningful and not something I take for granted,” she added. “I think it’s going to be a special experience.”
After sharing a glimpse of what went down during the show, the scene cut to her emotional moment backstage, where she can be seen getting teary-eyed after performing for her Filipino fans.
“I’m just so emotional. I was just thinking about my family the whole time. It’s just beautiful,” she said.
“I’m so grateful that everyone came, it was so much fun,” she continued. “I just feel like the luckiest girl that ever lived.”
In a separate video, the beloved pop star talked about how she had always wanted to visit the Philippines as she shared clips of her short visit to Intramuros, Manila with her dad.
“I’m just so happy to be here. It feels really awesome. It’s actually a dream come true,” she added.
She also had a boodle fight at Pinoy restaurant Sarsa, where she enjoyed a variety of Filipino dishes like inasal, sisig, and her favorite dessert, halo-halo.
Olivia performed at the Philippine Arena for her special Silver Star Show, which was her “biggest venue ever.”
“[Been] dreaming of this show for a [while],” she said in a social media post. “Thank you to everyone Manila for welcoming me so generously and making me feel so loved.”
Proceeds went to her chosen non-government organization, Jhpiego, via Fund 4 Good, a global initiative committed to building an equitable and just future for women and girls. “I got to visit the organization while I was in Manila and was so impressed by the work they are doing providing healthcare to women and girls in the Philippines,” Rodrigo added.
