Pokwang says ex wanted her daughter out of the house after learning she was pregnant

Pokwang proudly revealed that she’s now a grandmother to the child of her firstborn, Mae Subong.

The comedienne-actress made the revelation in an interview on Fast Talk With Boy Abunda alongside her 28-year-old daughter.

“I have a four-year-old super, super cute [grandson]. Another blessing ng buhay ko,” Pokwang voluntarily disclosed during the interview.

“Super cute na bata, super talino…I’m a lola, and I’m so proud. I’m a proud lola.

Mae gave birth to her baby boy named Gabriel during the pandemic in 2021.

Pokwang further shared that she did not get angry at Mae when she learned that she got pregnant out of wedlock.

“Hindi ako nagalit. Ako naman lagi kong sinasabi, ‘maka-graduate ka lang, masaya na ako.’ Sinunod naman niya ako kahit masakit sa likod ang tuition fee niya. Sabi ko, ‘Maka-graduate ka lang, ako na ‘yung pinakamasayang nanay,’” said Pokwang.

“Ginawa naman niya. Naka-graduate siya, nakapagtrabaho siya. Hindi naman siya naging pasaway na bata. Hindi naman siya naging sakit sa ulo na anak. Kaya nung nalaman ko na she’s pregnant, I am so so happy. Hindi ako nagalit. Hindi ko siya sinumbatan,” she added.

Pokwang went on to reveal that it was actually her estranged partner, Lee O’Brian, who wanted Mae to leave the house.

“‘Bakit mo palalayasin, anak ko yan? Pandemic, mas kailangan ako ng anak ko’,” she recalled her reaction to her ex.

Mae said she learned about the incident only recently as her mom had previously protected Lee.

“Gusto ko po akong palayasin nung ex niya sa house because I got pregnant without getting married. He wanted me out of the house, and I don’t know why,” related Mae.

“Bakit mo papaalisin ang anak ko? Ngayon niya ako kailangan and it’s pandemic, saan pupunta yung bata?’” Pokwang recalled telling Lee.

“Tsaka between me and him, parang ako yung mas may karapatan na nasa bahay. Hindi siya, kung tutuusin.

“Siguro para hindi na rin ako magtanim ng sama ng loob towards him. So, that time, pinoprotektahan pa rin ni Mama yung ex niya para magkaroon kami ng maayos na relationship,” added Mae.

Mae and her baby daddy currently live in Pokwang’s house and help manage her food business.

Mae is Pokwang’s daughter with her ex Japanese partner. Pokwang has another daughter named Malia, her child with Lee.
