Kathryn Bernardo admitted that she doesn’t see herself getting married to her longtime boyfriend Daniel Padilla anytime soon, as she clarified that they want to focus on their respective priorities at the moment.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the “A Very Good Girl” press conference, Bernardo said it’s going to take a while before she says “I do” to Padilla as they’re currently at the peak of their careers.

The topic was brought up after she was asked about catching the bridal bouquet at filmmaker Cathy Garcia-Molina’s wedding last May.

“Wala pa, matagal pa kasi ngayon, nandito kami sa peak ni Deej na kailangan naming magtrabaho nang mag-trabaho especially may bahay na ipinagawa, ang daming gastos. And then, alam din namin sa sarili namin na hindi pa time. And open kami about it,” she said, referring to her “2 Good 2 Be True” co-star using his nickname.

(No, it’s going to take a while because Deej and I are at the peak of our careers. We need to work hard because I had my house renovated and there’s a lot of expenses. We ourselves also know that it’s not yet time, and we’re both open about it.)

The actress then pointed out that everyone has their own time when it comes to marriage, adding she doesn’t mind attending weddings for now.

“Iba-iba naman ‘yung time [nating lahat], so ngayon, attend lang kami ng mga kasal, kunin niyo na lang [ako bilang] bridesmaid, ganyan. Okay lang ‘yun sa amin (We all have our own time. We’ll just attend weddings for now. Just get me as a bridesmaid, that’s okay for us),” she said.

The “A Very Good Girl” star also clarified that she and Padilla discussed marriage at some point in their relationship, where she said the latter “respects [her] timing.”

“He respects my timing din. Alam ko rin na di pa ako ready so ayaw mong pilitin mga ganu’n, importante, masaya kayo ngayon. Take it day by day (He respects my timing. We both know that I’m not yet ready so I don’t want to force those things to happen. What’s important is that we’re happy now. We’ll take it day by day),” she added.

Bernardo earlier spoke about asking permission from Padilla if she could work alone on her next set of projects, before accepting the offer to be part of the cast of “A Very Good Girl.”

“Sinabi ko, ‘Love, is it okay if I do something alone muna? Promise, wala akong love team. Wala akong ka-partner. Wala muna, pero gustong gumawa [ng ibang proyekto].’ Then siya rin, he’s going to be doing a project with Dan [Villegas] naman (I said, “Love, is it okay if I do something alone first? I promise you that I don’t have a love team. I don’t have a partner. No one. I just want to do different projects). So it was a personal choice for both of us that we wanted to do something alone,” she said.
