Kathryn Bernardo Opens Up About the Highs and Lows of Fame

KATHRYN BERNARDO – Pinay actress and endorser Kathryn Bernardo revealed the good and bad of stardom.

In a recent interview on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” aired on October 28, 2024, Kathryn Bernardo opened up about the complex realities of being an actress in the Philippines. Filipinos have watched Kathryn evolve from an endearing child star into one of the country’s most admired and accomplished young actresses.

During the interview, Boy Abunda asked Kathryn to share both the positives and negatives of her life in the spotlight. Reflecting on the bright side of her career, Kathryn said, “The good [is] I’m doing my passion [and] I’m doing this profession as an actor. [It is] something I want, something I love, [and] at the same time, napapasaya mo ‘yung mga tao.”

Kathryn Bernardo added that the impact she has on others while doing what she loves feels like a “win-win situation,” as her acting brings joy and meaning to her audience.

However, Kathryn was equally open about the challenges she faced. Despite her support system, the pressure to meet high expectations often becomes intense. “It can get really, really overwhelming,” she shared.

“I’m talking about people around you; [they] want what’s best for me… but it’s hard because they’re not giving me, parang [there is] no room for mistakes.”

Kathryn Bernardo also touched on how her public life affects her personal decisions, as her mistakes are not private like those of an ordinary person. She explained, “Kapag normal person ka, puwede kang matuto on your own without the whole world watching you, but now, with this job, it’s like, ‘pag magkamali ka, kapag masaktan ka, kapag meron kang decision sa life, lahat ng tao [ay] involved doon sa buhay mo, lahat sila may opinyon sa buhay mo.”

In the end, Kathryn admitted, “I think that’s a bit sad… Sometimes it’s hard for me to make decisions because, instead of just me thinking of myself, iniisip ko ‘Paano kayo?’”
