Kris Aquino’s First Public Appearance After Her Hiatus

KRIS AQUINO – The Queen of All Media made a rare public appearance at People Asia’s People of the Year 2025 on Tuesday after several years away from the spotlight.

She attended the event to support her longtime friend, fashion designer Michael Leyva, who was among the honorees. Joining her was her son, Bimby.

During a brief interview, Aquino apologized for arriving late, explaining that she had trouble waking up due to a new medication she had started the night before. At one point, Leyva asked her to remove her mask for a photo, but she declined, saying her doctor had strictly advised against it.

Reflecting on the occasion, Aquino mentioned that the last time she was out in public was before the pandemic lockdown. She also noted the significance of February 25, the anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, which holds great meaning for both her family and the country. “What a perfect (day) to come out” she remarked after initially mistaking the date.

Aquino also expressed deep gratitude toward Leyva, describing him as more than just a friend. “He is more than just a friend. He is like the younger brother I never had. There are people who would say ‘I’ll be there for you’ or ‘Maaasahan mo ako’ but Michael has proven so many times, and in so many ways.”

Although she made an appearance at the event, Aquino clarified in a recent Instagram post that she is still not physically well enough to return to work. She shared that she remains underweight and is undergoing treatment for multiple autoimmune conditions.

When asked how she was feeling, she gave a candid response: “Not so okay.” Meanwhile, fans and supporters of the Queen of All Media were happy to see her in public despite her condition. Many also offered their prayers for her full recovery.
