Jean Garcia talked about onscreen “sampalan” with her co-stars

Season actress Jean Garcia, one of the premiere “kontrabidas” in the Philippine entertainment industry, revealed the bribe she gives to her co-stars who experienced slaps from her onscreen.

Jean has already slapped a lot of co-stars in her past projects. She is one of the most respected actresses who can pull off a “kontrabida” role very well.

Previously, A-list actress Bea Alonzo shared her experience receiving an onscreen slap from the seasoned actress while beauty queen-turned-actress Rabiya Mateo said that it has been her dream to be slapped by Jean someday.

In a recent interview, based on the article in Bandera, Jean Garcia shared that she feels shy every time people call her “Sampal Queen”. Some celebrities would even say that it is an honor for them to be slapped by Jean.

“Siyempre, ako, nahihiya din ako, di ba?  Kumbaga trabaho lang din naman, wala namang personalan. Pinapagawa lang din sa amin,” Jean shared.

The seasoned actress also shared that there is a safe way of doing the “sampalan” scene and that she is also conscious of what her co-star will feel. She said that it is important to be aware to just hit the cheek because it would be painful if the jaw or ear were hit.

Jean also pointed out that it is important to follow the director’s instructions and have a conversation first with her co-star before the shoot.

Then, Jean Garcia revealed that she would give a “bribe” to her co-stars who experienced her slap. She said that she would provide abundant food for them and she would tell the production staff to prepare ice. “Para lang makabawi, kasi nasaktan kita,” Jean would say this to her co-stars.
