Regine Velasquez Reveals How Son Nate Knew She, Ogie Alcasid Are Famous

Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez revealed how her son Nate knew that she and OPM icon Ogie Alcasidare are famous.



Regine and Ogie are among the legends in the music industry in the Philippines. Their songs transcended from generation to generation and they are two of the most respected personalities in showbiz.

The celebrity couple have been in the industry for decades and their journey has become an inspiration to many younger artists.

In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, Regine Velasquez shared an anecdote about how their son Nate discovered their status in the entertainment industry.

“He knows who I am kasi noong seven or eight years old siya, Ginoogle na niya ako,” the singer-actress said, adding that apparently got curious about who they are and learned about them.

“Sasabihin pa niya, ‘Oh, Mom, did you know you’re like this, like that?’ ‘Ah really?’ ‘Yes I Googled you,’” Regine enthused.

She also shared that Nate accepts and understands her and Ogie’s work in showbiz. Regine said that when Nate was growing up, he never wondered really hard about his parents’ job. It was normal for him to see people would pose for photos with his mom and dad.

“One time, mga 12 years old siya, kasi kapag nagsa-shopping kami, lapitan ang mga tao. Minsan nahihiya ako sa kanya kasi parang he doesn’t get to have me na ako lang,” Regine shared.

With this, she apologized to her son but he would say “it’s okay.” She added that Nate knows where to position himself when people would ask for photos with them.

As a mother, Regine Velasquez said that she is happy knowing that her son is proud of her and Ogie Alcasid. Nate also does not mind their job in the entertainment industry. “He’s always like, ‘No, I don’t mind! Because of you, I’m popular in school. It’s okay!’” Regine shared what her son said.
