BROD PETE – Veteran comedian Brod Pete candidly admitted his jealousy over Alex Calleja’s Netflix success, humorously saying, “NAIINGGIT AKO!” while still expressing admiration for his fellow comedian’s achievement.



Brod Pete recently shared his thoughts on fellow comedian Alex Calleja’s rising success, particularly his Netflix comedy special TAMANG PANAHON, which soared to the top of the streaming platform’s rankings.

During an interview, Brod Pete—whose real name is Herman “Isko” Salvador—was asked about his reaction to Calleja’s achievement. With his signature humor, he jokingly admitted feeling a little envious. “Ako, wala akong Netflix pero mas matagal ako kay Alex. Wala akong Netflix, siya meron. Naiinggit ako,” he quipped.

However, beyond his lighthearted remark, Brod Pete made it clear that his admiration for Calleja’s work is genuine. He emphasized his deep love for comedy and acknowledged the quality of Calleja’s special. “Gusto ko comedy. Gusto ko nakakatawa. Eh, nakakatawa ‘yung kay Alex. Naiinggit ako,” he said with a laugh.

Brod Pete also expressed his openness to doing his own Netflix special—not as competition to Calleja but as a way to further contribute to the Philippine comedy scene. “Kung may pagkakataon, gagawa ako ng Netflix hindi para kalabanin siya or… para ituloy-tuloy ‘yung comedy scene.”

Aside from discussing Calleja’s milestone, Brod also addressed the controversy surrounding Alex Calleja and fellow comedian Chito Francisco regarding the carwash joke. He expressed sadness over the situation, stating that comedians act as channels for humor and that jokes are meant to be shared rather than cause division.
