Gary Valenciano brought to hospital after cutting his Pure Energy concert short

Gary Valenciano‘s performance of Pure Energy: One More Time at the Araneta Coliseum was shortened last night, December 20, due to illness.

In the middle of his concert, the OPM icon suddenly took a break by sitting on the stairs. Then, he talked to his audience, “You know, ladies and gentlemen, hindi ‘to kasali sa script namin. Alam ko kasi ako yung nagsulat ng script. But I don’t know if I can finish this show.

“But what I want to do, is I want to do the songs that I know can speak into your hearts,”

“It breaks my heart to know that we have prepared so much for all of you. But the body is saying, ‘Gary, be cautious, Gary. You have many more years to go.’”

Based on the social media post of Araneta Coliseum, Gary still managed to perform a few more songs, including his very moving song “Warrior is a Child.”

It wrote, “Gary V announces that he will not be able to complete his concert after sharing that he was feeling under the weather before the concert, but he continued to perform a few more songs for the sake of his loving fans who came from all over the globe.”

Meanwhile, on her Facebook accout, Gary’s wife, Angeli Pangilinan, updated fans and followers about the condition of her singer husband.

She said, “He ingested something and vomited so many times in the last two hours. He wasn’t sure he could do this concert. The doctors were backstage and he had an IV … and he said he wants to do it! But he has since sang six songs.. changing the repertoire … please continue to pray.”

Later, she told fans not to worry because “Gary is ok… just dehydrated.”

She continued, “He vomited about 8 times today. But am here with him and he’s just weak. A Type 1 diabetic goes through serious medical issues and we couldn’t afford what we call diabetic ketoacidosis so we are making sure he balances everything in a while. To the fans… thank you ! God is good. We love you all …

She also posted a video of Gary saying, “Hey guys, I’m getting better. Good people taking care of me. I’ll be okay, don’t worry. God bless.”

In her most recent post, Angeli showed Gary with his doctor. In a lengthy caption, Angeli reiterated, “He is ok. Just weak from all the throwing up – from the stage to the stretcher is what happened but he is ok now. Just weak. May I say I love you all and I believe that in all things He works for the good of those who love him who are called according to His purpose …so beyond the flood is a rainbow. All will be well.”

Gary’s Pure Energy: One More Time last night was one of his two-night concert at the Araneta Coliseum. He is expected to perform again tomorrow, December 22, where SB19 will be one of his guests.

This concert is part of Gary’s concert series in celebration of his 40th showbiz anniversary.
