From portraying benevolent and morally upright characters in the previous acting projects that she did, Janine Gutierrez has boldly taken on the challenge of portraying the kontrabida role of Iris Buenavidez in the ongoing primetime series Lavender Fields.

Just on the teleserye’s first two weeks on-air, she has already relentlessly astounding us with her brilliance and ferocity that she’s able to display in the remarkable scenes of Iris that we put together in this edition of Kapamilya Update.

Let’s begin on that scene from the pilot episode wherein Iris made a grand yet awful entrance as she arrived drunk and disheveled at the surprise birthday party of her husband, Tyrone (Jericho Rosales). She indeed stole the spotlight from him as aside from yelling at one of her minions to give her the “freaking box” that contained her gift for him, which was a luxurious watch, she also puked the wine that she guzzled from the meeting she attended prior to the event on Tyrone’s white jacket.

It was later revealed through a flashback scene that their marriage has already been on the rocks for quite some time. Apparently, one of the reasons was Iris’ indignant refusal of Tyrone’s plea for them to finally leave her family’s gun trade and live a brand-new life together. She was totally provoked upon hearing him say that he couldn’t do it anymore, which she presumed was only his way of getting rid of her.

They once again had an intense and scorching spat as Iris observed that Tyrone grew more indifferent towards her, which prompted her to enumerate all the possible reasons. Since he obviously already had enough of his wife’s attitude, Tyrone once again insisted that she sign their annulment papers, which she firmly refused and told him that they would rather die than see him in the arms of another woman.

After their heated altercation at the office, Iris apparently tried to catch her husband’s attention anew by seducing him while he was relaxing at their mini pool and sipping his wine. But showing off her beautiful body, unfortunately, didn’t work for Tyrone, as he just ignored her advances after they kissed, implying that he wanted to rest since it had been a long day.

Iris was absolutely fierce and fab as she strutted in her red ensemble on her arrival to the country after four years of going from one country to another, which made her dad, Vittorio (Edu Manzano), miss her so much.

She was also wearing a jacket in the shade of red in the scene wherein she showed her badass side while she and Vittorio discussed the supposed revenge plot of her rival, Jasmine Flores (Jodi Sta. Maria), who just made a comeback. Iris demonstrated what she’s about to do when the time comes that they’ll see each other again by aiming a gun at one of their workers.

And lastly, Iris looked ravishing in the red cutout gown that she wore to the party organized by her father for her birthday. Little did she know that she already came face-to-face with Jasmine, who now assumes the identity of Lavender Fields. Iris was apparently not impressed by the sight of her, despite Lavender’s friendly gesture towards her as she refused to shake hands with her.
