Janine Gutierrez to produce Pilita Corrales documentary

Kapamilya actress Janine Gutierrez announced earlier this week that she will be producing a documentary on her grandmother, Pilita Corrales. In an Instagram post, she revealed that she will be working alongside different personalities in the creative industry to preserve the legacy of her “Mamita”.

Janine is the granddaughter of Pilita on her father Ramon Christopher’s side.

The Dirty Linen star then shared that award-winning director Baby Ruth Villarama will be one of the creative talents to join the crew of the upcoming documentary. Baby’s most known for her work on the documentary, Sunday Beauty Queen.

“Very excited to announce that we’re working with the amazing @babyruthv, the director of the award-winning documentary Sunday Beauty Queen, on a documentary on my Mamita, the one and only Pilita Corrales,” Janine wrote.

She added that she hopes through this passion project of hers, the younger generation will get to know the story of her grandmother and how she paved the way as a female artist back in her days.

“I’ve always felt a deep responsibility to help preserve Mamita’s amazing legacy and I hope this project becomes another way for younger generations to learn about her story—not just as a legendary performer, but as a woman who defied expectations and truly paved the way,” she added.

While she announced it as early as this year, she maintained that the highly-anticipated documentary is in the “very early stages” of its development. Despite this, the upcoming project will be introduced at the Producer’s Network and Spotlight Asia in Cannes.

Pilita rose to fame as a singer back in the 1960s then dabbled in acting in several films and television series such as Bride for Rent, Basement, and My Illegal Wife, among others. The 84-year-old veteran showbiz personality remains to be an inspiration to several aspiring artists even until today.
