Janine Gutierrez may have intrigued fans more on the status of her relationship with fellow actor Paulo Avelino, after she evaded a question asking if the actor is already her boyfriend.

The actress took on the “Search With Me” challenge wherein she answered the most searched questions about her on the internet, as seen in a video on IWantTFC’s YouTube channel last Sunday, Aug. 14. Gutierrez started off the segment, the name of which was derived from her queer series “Sleep With Me,” with a question about her being married.

“No, guys. Hindi pa po tayo kasal. Kinasal tayo sa ‘Marry Me, Marry You’ pero sa totoong buhay, hindi pa tayo kinakasal,” she said, referring to her romantic-comedy series where she was first paired up with Avelino.

(No, guys. I am not yet married. I only got married in “Marry Me, Marry You” but I am yet to wed in real life.)

Gutierrez then laughed and gave an indirect answer after she read the second question asking if she is single.

“Well, I’m not married so sa mga form, [single] pa rin ‘yung isasagot natin,” she stated. (Well, I am not married so I am still single in legal forms.)

After going through a few queries about her showbiz family, Gutierrez’s relationship status was again brought up at the latter part of the challenge. The actress was asked if she is engaged, to which she clarified that she is not. The queries finally got more specific when she was asked if she is actually in a relationship with Avelino.

“Parang puro relationship questions talaga ‘yung mahalaga dito sa Pilipinas, ano? Uhm, ayon na nga,” she said without further elaborating, and proceeded to the next question. (It seems that relationship questions are what’s important here in the Philippines, right? Well, there you go.)

Speculations that the pair are getting closer to each other started when they were frequently spotted together even after their first TV series ended. Meanwhile, Gutierrez and Avelino also recently starred in the romance-drama film “Ngayon Kaya” which premiered last June.
