“NAPAKABILIS ng mga pangyayari!” Iyan ang reaksyon ng mga tagasuporta ng Aegis Band sa biglaang pagpanaw ng isa sa mga bokalista nitong si Mercy Sunot.

Kahapon lang kasi nalaman ng mga taong nagmamahal at sumusuporta kay Mercy ang pakikipaglaban niya sa cancer kasabay ng hiling na ipagdasal siyang malampasan ang pinagdaraanang pagsubok sa kalusugan.

Ngunit ngayong araw nga ay kinumpirma ng grupong Aegis na sumakabilang-buhay na ang isa sa kanilang miyembro at kapamilya matapos makipaglaban sa sakit na cancer.

Ayon sa ulat, sumakabilang-buhay ang OPM artist dahil sa cancer habang naka-confine sa Stanford Hospital and Clinics sa San Francisco, California, kagabi, gabi November 17 (November 18 ng umaga dito sa Pilipinas). Siya ay 48 years old.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Mercy, one of the beloved vocalists of AEGIS Band.

“She bravely fought her battle with cancer but has now found peace and rest.

“Mercy’s voice wasn’t just a part of AEGIS—it was a voice that brought comfort, joy, and strength to so many.

“She has touched countless lives, inspiring fans and lifting spirits with every song she sang.

“Her passion, warmth, and unforgettable presence on stage will forever be cherished in our hearts.

“Let us come together to celebrate the incredible life she lived and the legacy she leaves behind.

“Mercy, thank you for the music, the love, and the memories. You will be deeply missed!” ang nakasaad sa official statement ng Aegis na ipinost sa kanilang Facebook page.

Magkakaroon ng pre-Valentine concert ang iconic Pinoy rock band sa February 1 at 2, 2025 na may titulong “Halik sa Ulan” pero hindi na nga sila kumpletong papagitna sa stage sa mga araw na yun dahil sa pagpanaw ni Mercy.

Magaganap ito sa New Frontier Theater sa Quezon City na magsisilbing comeback ng grupo sa concert scene at bilang regalo na rin nila sa kanilang mga loyal fans.

Samantala, nag-post din sa social media ang kapatid at kapwa Aegis member ni Mercy na si Juliet Sunot hinggil sa malungkot na pangyayari.

“The hardest thing I’ve ever done, I wear a mask from day to day and try to cope in my own way.

“I’ll miss you ‘til we meet again and long for you each day ‘til then. There’s now a hole no one can fill within my heart,” aniya.

Kabilang sa mga pinasikat na kanta ng Aegis Band ay ang “Halik”, “Luha,” “Basang-basa Sa Ulan,” “Sinta,” “Natatawa Ako,” at “Bakit.”

Narito naman ang mga mensahe ng pakikiramay ng mga nagmamahal kay Mercy.
