Furious Man Earns Criticism for Attacking Parents After Being Told to Find Job

A furious man in Davao City reportedly attacked his parents with a bladed weapon after being told to find a job.

The suspect allegedly attacked his parents with a bladed weapon, killing his father and injuring his mother. The violent act reportedly came from his anger after his parents advised him to look for a job.

The father, a 71-year-old man, suffered fatal wounds to his neck and shoulder while chopping wood outside their home. The mother also sustained injuries during the attack by their 33-year-old son. She is now being treated for her wounds.

According to police, the son became furious when his parents suggested he start working to support himself. The barangay chairman shared that the suspect had a history of conflicts with his parents.

“Pinayuhan ng magulang ang anak na maghanap ng trabaho na ikinagalit niya suspek,” Davao City Police Office spokesperson Police Captain Hazel Caballero Tuazon said.

These arguments often revolved around his alleged laziness and tendency to avoid responsibilities. He was said to frequently roam the area with drinking buddies and only return home to eat, further frustrating his parents.

Previously, the parents had sought help from the barangay office, reporting incidents of physical abuse involving their son. Despite attempts at intervention, tensions in the household persisted.

“Lagi na lang silang nag-aaway ng kaniyang mama at papa dahil nga tamad. Laging gumagala, naghahanap ng kainuman na barkada. Pag-uwi, kakain, kaya nagagalit ang mga magulang kasi uuwi lang kapag kakain na,” Barangay Inayangan chairman Noel Aragon said.

After committing the crime, the suspect fled the scene but was eventually apprehended by authorities. He now faces charges of parricide and frustrated parricide. So far, he has not provided any statement regarding his actions.

The incident shows the impact of unresolved family conflicts and the importance of addressing issues before they escalate into violence. Authorities remind families to seek professional help in managing domestic disputes to prevent such incidents.
