Reports surfaced on social media claiming that Pant approached RCB through his manager to replace Faf du Plessis as captain, which was allegedly rejected. The same rumours stated that Kohli didn’t want Pant in the team due to internal politics.

Pant responded to these claims by calling them “fake news” and urged people to be more responsible. In a message posted on X, Pant expressed frustration at the spread of false information, saying it creates an untrustworthy environment.

He urged fans to verify sources before spreading information. He also mentioned that this isn’t the first time misinformation has been spread but felt the need to address it this time.

Pant clarified that such baseless rumours harm the trust within the cricketing community and warned against creating unnecessary negativity.
