Joey de Leon, Keempee de Leon Had Emotional Reconciliation

Keempee de Leon recalls the heartwarming moment he had with Joey de Leon

Henyo Master Joey de Leon and his son actor Keempee de Leon had an emotional reconciliation last year.

In June 2024, Keempee shared that after five years, he decided to end his “tampo” with his father. In that period, they had no communication. However, during last year’s Father’s Day, Keempee visited the Eat Bulaga studio to reconcile with his father.

In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, Keempee shared that his father was surprised to see him at the studio and thought that he was there to promote a project.

At that time, Keempee de Leon also decided to end whatever ill feeling he had for the show. To recall, he was no longer part of the show years ago and he said that he did not know the reason why he was removed.

After initiating the reconciliation, Keempee felt so happy. However, he admitted that something was still missing. It was because he couldn’t say yet the word “sorry” to his father. Before they parted ways, Joey de Leon told him that they would see each other again.

The following meeting happened in September last year. Keempee attended Joey’s wife Eileen’s birthday. The actor went to his father’s house. After several years, he was able to visit that house again.

After hugging his father and his Tita Eileen, Keempee said sorry to his siblings. “Nag-sorry ako… sa kapatid ko, kapatid ko si Jocas, umiiyak… Sabi ko, ‘Ba’t ka umiiyak?’ Sabi niya, ‘Tagal mo nawala, e.’ So, na-feel ko ulit na at home ako… na yung welcome ulit ako. So, yung forgiveness ng family, nandun pa rin. So okay, lahat. Brothers ko, lahat…” he shared.

At one point, Joey de Leon invited his son to see a room in the house and that moment made Keempee de Leon cry. “Doon na ako umiyak na talagang, parang bata, hagulgol ako, hagulgol. ‘Sorry po,’” the latter said.

Joey was also crying. Keempee said that the cry was more of a joyful feeling. He felt at peace that they reconciled.

The younger De Leon cried even more when his dad said words being a concerned father. “Naiyak ako lalo nung sabi niya, ‘Hindi ko nga alam nasan ka? Kamusta ka? Kung ano bang kinakain mo? Ano nangyari? O anong pakiramdam mo?’ Keempee shared.
