‘Karma’? James Reid’s ex-girlfriend apologizes for ‘bad joke’ about JaDine breakup

MANILA — Singer Ericka Villongco, a former girlfriend of James Reid, apologized on Tuesday for her “bad joke” regarding the actor’s breakup with fellow film and TV star Nadine Lustre.

In an Instagram Stories update on Tuesday — a day after Reid and Lustre confirmed their separation — Villongco said she has been getting messages left and right asking for her reaction to the controversy.

Villongco, who is based in the US, included a selfie where she appears to be pulling a face.

Her caption was, unedited: “my dm is flooded w the ‘did u hear??’ ‘what do u have to say about..’ ‘he$ a cHeAteRrr’ … this is me rn letting the new speak for itself.”

Further words placed around her face, meanwhile, read: “karmas a bitch,” “god spared me,” and “LOL”.

That post, as of writing, was no longer visible on Villongco’s Instagram page. In a subsequent update, she apologized for what she called an “impulsive” move.

She said, with a white heart emoji: “deleted my post bec I realized it was a bad joke, im sorry for letting the impulsive aries get the best of me [cloud emoji] this rlly isn’t any of my business & it is never ok to be mean to ppl [baby angel emoji].”

Villongco, known for the acoustic duo Krissy & Ericka, was in a three-year relationship with Reid until they broke up in March 2014.

That same year saw the showbiz breakthrough of Reid via the film “Diary ng Panget” with Lustre, who then became his real-life girlfriend two years later in February 2016.
