Celebrities, with their wide social media reach, are often used by scammers and online posers in their fraudluent schemes.

While some of their admirers create and run social media pages to echo their brand and projects, the scammers, online posers and even hackers would use celebrities’ names to take advantage and push their hidden agenda.

Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera and Eat Bulaga main host Maine Mendoza are the recent victims of these online fraudulent acts. The scammers use Marian and Maine’s photos in alluring the public with promotions involving money. In exchange, people must provide their personal information and should like and follow the Facebook pages of these scammers.

People are usually vulnerable to this kind of schemes since it’s the time of COVID-19 pandemic, work has been suspended, and everyone needs money for their families.
