Actress Nadine Lustre received these wonderful words from director Mikhail Red, who directed her Metro Manila Film Festival 2022 movie Deleter.



Nadine was hailed as this year’s MMFF Best Actress and she has been receiving praise for his performance. In an interview, based on the article in Inquirer, Direk Mikhail shared that he has been receiving positive comments about the actress from his colleagues.

The director shared that he saw Nadine’s movies “Never Not Love You” and “Ulan.” Working with her, he said that he found out that “she’s a refined actress.”

“She’s there to work. She’s no diva; walang kaartehan. Some of the scenes had her covered in blood and she had to act with prosthetics. And then, she would ask us if we needed another take,” Direk Mikhail said.

The director also shared that Nadine Lustre is the type of actress who is concerned about the output. After the take, she does not go immediately to her holding area.

Nadine is also collaborative, the director said. She would share her suggestion but she is also confident with her director’s capacity. There is also a certain challenge in making a horror film and the actress did well.

“The challenge in shooting scenes in the dark is that the camera focus is shallow. So if you miss your markers, the shot will have a soft focus. So her movements had to be precise: She had to step here, step there after three seconds, give the scream here, and then look to her left. Something like that. One mistake and we have to do another take,” the director shared.

Direk Mikhail said that Nadine Lustre never missed a beat and she was always hitting her marks. The director admitted at times, it was a human error on their side that caused them to reshoot. “Ganun siya kagaling,” he said.

Understanding this from a technical perspective, Direk Mikael said that it was easy for him to articulate to Nadine what is needed in a certain scene. The actress also does not ask why she has to do certain things and she knows what is needed. With this, the director said that this is probably because of Nadine’s experience over the years.
