Nadine Lustre reacts to the success of her movie ‘Deleter’

Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2022 Best Actress Nadine Lustre shared her thoughts on defeating Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda in movie earnings.



In previous years of MMFF, Vice’s movie topped the box-office gross. After three years of not having his Filmfest entry, last year, the It’s Showtime host once again offered a comedy treat to his fans through the movie Partners in Crime with Ivana Alawi.

Many moviegoers and MMFF fans expected that once again Vice will top the box-office gross but this did not happen. Nadine’s Deleter topped last year’s earnings with P234 million, based on reports. This number is expected to increase as some cinemas extended the showing of the said film.

With the overwhelming support that her movie is getting, Nadine Lustre is nothing but thankful. She shared in an interview, based on the article in Pang-Masa, that until now, she is reading a lot of positive reactions on social media.

The actress revealed that initially, they did not think of including the movie in MMFF 2022. That is the reason why it was a surprise for them to receive a warm welcome from moviegoers.

“Ang dami pa ring nanonood, ang dami ko pa ring nababasang mga tweets, tapos, nag-extend pa. So, parang hindi talaga ako makapaniwala,” Nadine said. With this, she said that she wants to do more of these “out-of-the-box” movies.

She also realized that doing acting projects is where she belongs. Nadine admitted that she thought of leaving showbiz already and would just seek a career outside the industry or just have her own business.

When asked what she feels that her movie earned more than Vice’s movie earnings, she answered with a laugh, “Hindi ko po alam.” 

“As in ‘pag iniisip ko po ‘yung mga ganyan, sobrang ano siya sa ‘kin, parang unreal? Na parang ‘nangyayari ba ‘to?’ Para siyang panaginip kasi nga po, I guess hindi rin kasi sanay, parang bago rin kasi,” she explained, adding that they did not expect the response they will get for this movie and that is why it is still hard for them to digest this.
