The incident involving a Sampaguita vendor and security guard went viral online. As seen in the video circulating online, the security guard manhandled the student. The security guard was dismissed from service after the management learned about the issue.

The company sympathized with the young girl who was seen being mistreated by the security guard.

An investigation was launched against the security guard and once proven to have violated the rules and regulations, the mall guard may face punishment. He may face suspension, and worse, his license may be revoked. According to the statement of the mall, “he will no longer be allowed to service any of our malls.“

The student in the video addressed the issue. According to her, she will not press charges against the security guard. The family is considering his situation and the possibility that he could also be from a poor family just like them.

The student, in an interview, expressed that she felt this deep humiliation and trauma when shooed away by the mall guard. When the video was widely shared online, it did not only disrupt her life, it also caused her to suffer from baseless accusations. She was also scrutinized publicly.

According to her, she only began to sell the garlands in front of the mall when light rain started. She also decided to wait for her sister and a friend but when the guard went to her, her plea fell on deaf ears.

She asked to sit there for a while but he did not listen to her and even threatened to take away the items she was selling. At that point, she stood and right after, he harshly grabbed her garlands. This particular moment was recorded and what followed was a heated exchange that led her to throw the ruined garlands at the guard out of frustration.

Despite the trauma, she still wants to apologize to the guard as it was not her intention to make him lose his job.
