Sara Duterte Reminds People To Not Forget The “Real Issues” Amid FPRRD’s Arrest

Amid the arrest of her father, Vice President Sara Duterte reiterated the “real issue” in our country during an interview.



According to Vice President Sara Duterte, there are far more important things to focus on apart from the arrest of her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte. The former leader’s war on drugs that involved the lives of innocent people will be investigated in the International Criminal Court (ICC).

On March 11, Duterte was arrested due to charges of crimes against humanity, and currently, he is detained in an ICC facility and made his first appearance on Friday. The hearing informed him of the charges against him and his rights as a defendant.

VP Sara followed her father there, and before the media, she addressed some controversies swirling around. According to her, the public should not lose sight of the country’s pressing concerns and issues, such as poverty and corruption.

She said, “Let us not forget the real issues—the poverty, the corruption, the government’s failure to ensure accountability and transparency, and the persistent problems in peace and security.”

At the same time, she thanked the people for their prayers and support. Their family felt their love and anger over what had transpired.

As much as we all know, VP Duterte will be facing an impeachment trial soon. She was impeached due to several allegations she did not address properly. There are six major allegations involved, and those are the following:

  • Misusing public funds while being the vice president and education department head
  • unexplained wealth
  • death threats to the president
  • Bribery and corruption
  • involvement in extrajudicial killings
  • destabilization, insurrection, and public disorder

The proposed date in the Senate for the trial was July 30.
