Security Guard Shoots Fellow Guard Over Tardiness in Antipolo

ANTIPOLO CITY – A security guard reportedly shot and killed his coworker allegedly due to repeated tardiness.

Tardiness refers to the habit or act of being late, especially on a regular basis. It often applies to situations like arriving late to work, school, meetings, or appointments.

While occasional lateness might be due to unavoidable circumstances like traffic or personal emergencies, frequent tardiness can be seen as unprofessional and may affect productivity, team dynamics, and workplace morale.

Recently, a security guard in Antipolo City is facing charges for shooting his colleague over tardiness. The victim, who was supposed to relieve the suspect from his shift, arrived 30 minutes late.

The suspect had been on duty for an extended period and was frustrated by his colleague’s habitual lateness. This frustration escalated, leading to the fatal shooting. After the incident, the suspect surrendered to the police at the warehouse where they both worked.

“’Yung suspek natin parang buong araw nang nagdu-duty. Initially, sabi niya, parang araw-araw na late ‘yung kasama niya,” Antipolo City Police chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Ryan Manongdo said.

Upon investigation, the suspect revealed that his actions were not solely driven by his coworker’s tardiness. He claimed that the victim had also threatened him and his family, which intensified his anger.

“Pinagalitan po kami. Dala po ng galit, pati sa pagbabanta niya sa akin pati sa pamilya ko. Sa akin wala naman pong problema, pero ayaw kong nadadamay pa ‘yung pamilya ko,” he said.

The suspect expressed remorse while in custody, stating that he regretted the outcome of his actions.

Authorities confiscated the firearm used in the crime, which was in the suspect’s possession. Legal proceedings have been initiated, with the suspect currently facing a homicide charge.
