Sharon Cuneta admitted that she and KC Concepcion are no longer close to each other while maintaining that she wants to keep their mother-and-daughter relationship just between the two of them.

In an interview with entertainment journalist MJ Marfori via Tiktok, Cuneta said she and Concepcion are having problems, and are in fact “estranged.” The interview was conducted while her husband, former senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, was with her.

“Pati mga anak ko tulad sina Frankie… My God, they’re kids. Wala silang ginagawa. Ano man ang problema namin ng panganay ko because at this point, we’re estranged. And I’m very, very hurt,” she said in response to a question regarding the cyber libel case she and Pangilinan filed against entertainment insider Cristy Fermin.

(Even my children like Frankie… My God, they’re kids. They’re not doing anything. Whatever problems I have with my eldest child because at this point, we’re estranged. And I’m very, very hurt.)

The Megastar then asserted there are problems she’s going through with her children which should be kept between among them.

“But there are things na, tama na ‘yun. Amin na lang,” she said. “Kahit bali-baliktarin mo ang mundo, mahal mo pa rin ang anak mo. So tiis-tiis na lang muna. Dadating ang point na ayoko nang isiksik ang sarili ko sa anak ko.”

(But there are things that should remain at a certain point. That’s just between us. Even if you try to reverse the world, you would still love your children. I’ll just endure it. There will come a point where I don’t have to force myself to my children.)

Cuneta’s admission comes five months after she became emotional over Concepcion’s absence last Christmas. Among the mother-and-daughter’s recent appearances together was the “Dear Heart” concert with her ex-husband Gabby Concepcion in October 2023.

Prior to that, Concepcion admitted in an interview with Boy Abunda that she had unfollowed her stepdad, Pangilinan, and stepsister, Frankie, on Instagram, saying that while she had unfollowed them, she will never “unlove” them.

“Family is family… Naniniwala naman po ako na (I believe that) we have enough love to overcome this,” she said.

The actress-singer and Pangilinan made headlines after filing a cyber libel complaint against Fermin before the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office last May 10. The embattled talk show host was also served with three cyber libel cases by Bea Alonzo earlier this month.
