After airing the wedding ceremony and the reception, ABS-CBN will be showing a documentary on the wedding preparations of Ryan Agoncillo and Judy Ann Santos. Direk Joey Reyes (wearing gray in inset photo) was the target of the huge slingshot bearing the bouquet. Ang Kuwento Nating Dalawa will be aired on Sunday’s Best on May 24, 2009.

April 28, 2009 was the day when showbiz couple Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo made their commitment to cherish each other and live as husband and wife.

Their fairytale dream wedding was showcased on ABS-CBN last Sunday, May 17, in the TV special dubbed as Unchanging Love. The highly anticipanted TV special got a rating of 22 percent according to Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS), based on data from national households. Unchanging Love ranked fourth among primetime shows last Sunday, May 17.

It was anchored by Boy Abunda and Kris Aquino, with a special narration by KC Concepcion.

KC narrated that they traveled from Manila onboard a coaster that broke down several times along the way.

THE MAIN EVENT. As early as 2:00 am, everyone was already up and about, preparing for the main event.

Chef Gene Gonzales and his competent team prepared hot chocolate, suman, bicho-bicho and salabat for everyone before heading to the church.

Juday’s daughter Johanna Lois a.k.a Yohan excitedly ran around the venue, prompting KC to comment, “Ang energy ng batang yan, naku, to the highest level in a major way! Na witness ko at na experience ko in a major way during the make-up session. At pati si Johann, nakalipstick paglabas ng kwarto.”Johann blurted out, “My mommy and daddy [will be] getting married together!”

The ceremony was held at San Juan de Nepomuceno in Batangas at around 6:30 am.

Before Juday walked down the aisle wearing her Paul Cabral gown, the matron of honor Sharon Cuneta and the “little bride” Yohan marched ahead of the lovely bride.

The couple had three sets of principal sponsors: photographer Bien Bautista and Juday’s road manager Mary Jane Buencamino; Smart’s Mon Isberto and TV personality Susie Entrata-Abrera; and businessman Benjamin Gonzalez and director Rory Quintos.

THE WEDDING VOWS. Father Tito Caluag, a longtime friend of the couple, officiated the ceremony, which lasted for about 45 minutes.

FR. CALUAG: Judy Ann, did you come here on your own free will to bind yourself forever to love and serve Ryan your husband?

JUDY ANN: Yes, Father.

JUDY ANN: Ryan, wear this ring as a sign of my love and loyalty in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

FR. CALUAG: My dear brothers and sisters, now that Ryan and Judy Ann have pledged their vows before each other, before God. And to express our joy and acceptance of them into the Christian community as husband and wife by giving them a warm round of applause.

FR. CALUAG presented Ryan and Judy Ann to the congregation.

“My dear brothers and sisters, may I present to you Mr. Ryan and Mrs. Judy Ann Agoncillo.

The guests cheered as the couple sealed the deal with a tender kiss. Juday and Ryan were shown jumping up and down as they exited the church.

THE RECEPTION. Juday and Ryan’s 80 guests were in for another treat: an evening reception in an undisclosed destination. Everyone remained clueless regarding the exact location until they actually arrived at Balai Anilao. KC mentioned that 3 boats were used to transport guests to while other guests travelled by land. “Masaya ang atmosphere. Masaya yung mood nang buong araw.”

ABS-CBN executives Charo Santos-Concio and Cory Vidanes spotted at the reception. Close friends Ces Quesada, Aiza Seguerra, Marvin Agustin, among others were also present during this momentous occassion.

People very close to the couple gave their heartwarming messages.

Dondie Agoncillo, Ryan’s older brother and best man, praised Juday during his speech at the reception.

“I just want to say congratulations and best wishes to the newlyweds. Looking at Ryan’s maturity process, it gives me much fondness, seeing him jump from one success to another. It gives me and my family so much joy. It will take somebody special to make this guy commit and settle down. In fact, this somebody had super powers. It was Krystala who finally got him hitched.” Dondee was, of course, referring to the superhero character of Juday on the Kapamilya show where she met Ryan.

“To Juday, welcome to the Agoncillo family. We welcome you with open arms. I’m very happy I’ve gained a new sister. Time and again, you hear people talk about Judy Ann as a very wonderful person. But what can I say? My kids love her. The family loves her. And it just amazes me. It is admirable to see that she has kept her simplicity despite her superstar status.”

“You guys, you are a lovely couple. I wish you well. And as your best man, isa lang ang wish ko. You give as many brothers and sisters to Johann.”

Actor Jeffrey Santos, Judy Ann’s older brother led the ceremonial toast for the couple. He gave a short yet moving message straight from his heart. “I just want to toast. Nung magkasama tayo sa Little Tokyo nasabi ko na ito, for the benefit of everybody, this toast actually was symbolic for me kasi it ruled yung marriage ko with my wife so I am passing upon it to you.”

Jeffrey then declared: “May every situation create the opportunity to understand and love one another even more. Cheers!”

Mommy Carol gave her motherly message to both Juday and Ryan. She recalled tht time when she asked Juday and Ryan to cnofirm whether or not they were in a relationship or not.

“Si Judy Ann nagluluto then umupo siya [Ryan] sa tabi ko. Sabi ko ‘Ryan, can I ask you something? Are you and Juday [together]?’ Sabi niya, ‘Juday, can you come over here and help me?’ Tapos, evasive. Kung anu-anong mga pinagsasabi. Tapos, yung kamay nilang dalawa, magkaholding hands. That explained everything, di ba? Di na ako nagsalita.

“But getting married, di yan yung final na parang you’ll take everything in stride parang okay-okay lang. At you’ll really have to work hard for it. You have to nurture it. You have to take care of it and kailangan ninyo pang i-strengthen yung relasyon ninyo. But put God above all your kung ano man yung mga concerns ninyo sa buhay ninyo and never sleep na hindi kayo nagdi-discuss kung anu man ang mga arguments ninyo sa buhay. And Ryan and Juday, have a happy, happy married life. I love you both.”

After hearing all the wonderful words about them,
The couple joyfully took turns giving their “thank you” message to everyone.

“Pero maraming salamat for putting up for all the efforts you made to keep this as a secret, as a private and as silent as possible. Maraming salamat sa pagpunta ninyo. And to my parents, thank you very much for putting up with me for the past 30 years and to my new set of parents, you will be putting up with me for a very long time. Thank you very much at huli kong pasasalamatan ang aking Misis – salamat, pumayag kang magpakasal sa akin. Thank you!

A beaming Juday referred to Ryan as “my crush.”

She then thanked all the people who helped make that day possible. She referred to the APO Hiking Society and Session Road as the “cherry on top” of their wedding.

She gushed, “It’s a dream wedding. It’s a perfect wedding and I do hope na makaranas yung ibang brides ng ganitong kasayang wedding kasi. Kakaiba day! Pero masaya!”

She teased the crowd: “Hopefully, we’ll see you again on our 15th wedding anniversary.”

For the reception, the APO Hiking Society performed witty songs that had the crowd laughing and dancing on their feet. Juday and Ryan danced as a newlywed couple for the first time as the enduring trio sang “Panalangin.”

MANILA RECEPTION. A few scenes from the May 2 reception of the couple was shown at the end of the TV special.

Friends of the couple and members of the media were invited to the Le Souffle at The Fort to join in the happiness of the couple.

A special highlight of the affair was the throwing of the bouquet and garter. This tradition was conducted in a rather unorthodox way. Instead of just throwing the items, a blue giant sling shot was used by the couple to aim at the intended recipient.

Director Jose Javier Reyes was shown waiting for a bouquet but he was surprised to see a giant slingshot being aimed at him.

In conclusion, Kris ended the wedding special by saying, “let’s all be in love….the kind of love that’s truly unchanging.”

On May 24, ABS-CBN will be airing a documentary titled Ang Kuwento Nating Dalawa on Sunday’s Best. It will show the preparations that Ryan Agoncillo and Judy Ann Santos did for their simple yet solemn wedding.
