Gloria Romero – Actress’ Only Child Tearful In Eulogy

In a tearful eulogy, the only child of Gloria Romero recalled the last days she had with her.

Queen of Philippine Cinema Gloria Romero has passed away on January 25. Romero died at the age of 91 and the entire show business industry was mourning over the loss of a legendary actress.

Maritess Gutierrez, her only daughter shared previously that Romero’s wake will be held at Arlington Memorial Chapel, Hall A, on Araneta Avenue, Quezon City.

On her last night, more celebrities paid tribute to the movie icon at the mass and necrological service held Tuesday evening. Her cremation was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, January 29.

Celebrities such as Amy Perez and John Estrada shared their memories with her. Also present were Charo Santos, Bembol Roco, Boots Anson Roa Rodrigo, Tirso Cruz III, Jamie Rivera, Lou Veloso, Ali Sotto, Michael de Mesa, director Joel Lamangan, Philip Salvador, and Snooky Serna.

During the eulogy of her only child, tears filled the area. Maritess chronicled the last 25 days she had with her mother. Up until her last days, she still tried to give just as she had always has been. She was admired for her longevity in the entertainment industry.

“Tapos na ang role ng Mama ko here on Earth, off and on camera… Sabi ni direk, the great Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior — ‘Pack up na, iha, pack up na tayo rito sa Earth, come with me up here. This is a good place,’” she expressed.

She was suffering before she passed away and during those days, she prayed – fervently and tirelessly. With the help of other people, she was able to do things needed for her burial.

As the “Queen of Philippine Cinema”, she won various acting awards throughout her career in showbiz that spanned seven decades. “Magnifico,” “Dalagang Ilocana,” “Tarima,” “Tanging Yaman,” and “Rainbow’s Sunset” are among the iconic films she made.
