The Internet Wants BarDa + MaThon For ‘Business Proposal’ Remake

The fans have spoken. A cast for a possible (read: actually not in the works—yet) Business Proposal Philippine remake has been chosen. And we also think they’d be perfect for the roles! FR.

It all began when Netflix Philippines released a photo of Anthony Jennings, Maris Racal, Barbie Forteza, and David Licauco together in one frame to promote the upcoming Bida/Bida episode starring the four celebrities. ICYDK, Bida/Bida is a new talk show made by the streaming platform where celebrities talk about certain topics and relevant themes inside—and even outside—the entertainment landscape.

Then came the tweet that (might have) provided a vision of a possible Business Proposal adaptation. Disclaimer: There’s no rumor or even the slightest hint that the popular South Korean drama will have its Philippine remake. There’s nothing, really. But an Internet user spoke their mind and triggered all the desire to see more of Anthony, Maris, Barbie, and David in one project.

The tweet read, “I’m not really a fan of K-drama PH adaptations, but MaThon & BarDa would definitely nail this if given a chance. BUSINESS PROPOSAL ADAPTATION WHEN?? The perfect cast is literally right here.”

MaThon and BarDa for Business Proposal?

People might be curious about the idea of having Maris, Anthony—MaThon—with Barbie and David—BarDa—working together on Business Proposal.  But the dynamics of the whole K-drama just fit the two love teams’ image and personalities.

For those who haven’t watched Business Proposal, you just have to know that it’s a rom-com. And the aforementioned squad knows its way around rom-coms. Maris and Anthony, for one, gained prominence for their undeniable comedic chemistry during their stint as Irene and Snoop in the series, Can’t Buy Me Love.

And of course, there’s Barbie and David making rounds for their irresistible charm as an onscreen couple. The two also had their breakthrough roles as a love team when they were paired in the groundbreaking historical drama, Maria Clara at Ibarra. Since then, BarDa has been working nonstop on projects.

If you’re not fond of K-dramas yet, Business Proposal can be a good start for your K-series journey. The story begins when the female protagonist, Shin Ha Ri (played by Kim Sejeong) pretends to be her best friend for a blind date with the nonchalant CEO, Kang Tae Moo (portrayed by Ahn Hyo Seop). In a series of push and pull and a lot of pretending, the two fall in love.

As their love story progresses, so does that of Tae Moo’s secretary, Cha Sung Hoon (Kim Min Gue), and Ha Ri’s best friend, Jin Young Seo’s (Seol In Ah). Fate comes in between the four of them, wrapping them all in one chaotic, comedic, and cheesy setup as couples.

The Internet approves of MaThon & BarDa for Business Proposal

The Philippine entertainment industry has always been fond of making K-drama adaptations. Almost all of the famous K-dramas have been remade into a teleserye. To name a few, we already witnessed Filipino versions of Coffee Prince, Descendants of the Sun, Flower of Evil, and What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim? The Netflix series, It’s Okay To Not Be Okay is also having its adaptation soon. So it’s safe to say we have experience.

One of the comments in the viral tweet envisioning the remake reads, “May mga K-drama na hindi na kailangan ng Filipino adaptation, pero ito pasok na pasok.” Fans even tagged Netflix PH and the celebrities’ home networks in a bid to get attention and see the vision as well.

Well, we can’t wait for this to really happen!! We’re manifesting as well, for sure.
