Kapamilya star Vice Ganda shared that he is currently undergoing therapy to take care of his mental health.

During the media conference for his film And The Breadwinner Is on December 5, Vice was asked if, as a breadwinner, he also faces mental health struggles.



“Siyempre imposible na hindi ka magkaroon ng mental health issues bilang isang breadwinner,” Vice answered. “Yung pasan ng napakaraming problema ng magisa imposibleng hindi ka magkaroon ng mental health issues.Yung pakiramdam na nagiisa kasi yung pinakamahirap.”

Vice explained that many breadwinners who carry the responsibility of providing for their families often face challenges that can be difficult to cope with.

“Marami tayong pagsubok na nalalampasan natin ng madali kasi marami tayong katuwang pero kung magisa ka at alam na alam mong wala kang maasahan, ang sakit noon sa ulo, mahirap iyon matulog, mahirap magisip lalo na yung nararamdaman mo hindi mo masabi at wala kang mapagsabihan,” he added.

Relating to the struggles of breadwinners, Vice admitted that he seeks ongoing help from mental health professionals.

“I underwent therapy. I’m still undergoing therapy. Nagtherapy ako noon at hanggang ngayon nagtherapy pa rin ako at ayon ang isang bagay na hindi ko gustong ihinto. Ginagawa kong regular ang pagtherapy kasi gusto ko matulungan ang sarili ko kasi marami pa akong gustong gawin,” Vice shared.

He emphasized that therapy helps him maintain his overall well-being.

“Marami pa akong pangarap, marami pa akong gustong gawin. Gusto ko manatiling malusog, hindi lang katawan ko pati kaisipan ko kaya nagtheraphy ako hanggang ngayon,” he expressed.

Vice also clarified that his mental health challenges are not caused by his role as a breadwinner.

“Just to clarify na hindi nagcause ng mga mental health issues ko ay hindi yung breadwinning na ginagawa ko sa pamilya ko kasi yung pamilya ko sobra akong blessed na hindi (nila) inoobliga. Ako iyong nagrequest na ‘Nay tama na, ako na naman’ kahit mga kapatid ko,” Vice explained.

“Marami kasi akong issues in the past na kailangan kong harapan noong bata pa ako, lalo na iyong pinagdaaanan ko noong naging artista na ako at lalo na ngayon,” he added.

He also shared how important it is to remove the stigma around seeking mental health help, especially for public figures like himself.

“This is something na hindi ko masyado nashare pa kaya nabigla ako pero naisip ko ano naman ang nakakahiya kung nagtherapy ako. Atsaka gusto ko ring malaman niyo na, yeah, nagtherapy ako and I am proud of it,” he said.

He continued, “Ito ay isang bagay na hindi natin pinagdadalwang isipan na gawin dahil going on a therapy or seeking help sa isang psychiatrist, psychologist or isang propesyonal para tulungan ka sa iyong mental health issues ay it should be justa s normal as going to a dentist.

 Para maharap ko at maalagaan ko ang aking pangangailangang mental, ako po ay nagtherapy every now and then hanggang ngayon.”
