Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan had a legit love affair after they were together seen in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Their alleged relationship went on for a few years. Their relationship has always been the subject of discussions and speculations. They were reportedly madly in love once, they even don’t dare to cross their paths at the events. The affair started in 1999 on the set of Hum Dil Chuke Sanam. They were then next seen in another movie Hum Tumhare Hai Sanam where she played a cameo as Salman’s girlfriend. By that time, Aishwarya came close to the Khan family.



Though Aishwarya’s family was against the relationship, Salman’s sisters Alvira and Arpita, on the other hand, used to bond well with Aishwarya Rai.

Is love enough to make a relationship survive? Aishwarya and Salman had an ugly breakup in 2001. A report in India Today mentioned that there was a lot of drama outside Aish’s home in November 2001. Salman kept banging her door for hours and when he threatened to kill himself, she let him in. The reason behind breakup was Salman wanted a promise of marriage from Aishwarya but she refused it as she wanted to focus on her career.

Their breakup was not officially announced. An old video of Aishwarya is still on our current feed where she sat with Simi Garewal on her celebrity chat show, Rendezvous with Simi Garewal. It was 2012’s clip where she was asked by the host about her ugly breakup with Salman. She denied the question and chose not to answer. When Simi pushed her little, Rai said “I think I have quite shut it out. I think I wouldn’t want to get into looking at it any which way and especially on a public platform. I really wouldn’t want to.”

Simi didn’t stop there, she popped another question about their breakup. Aishwarya was questioned about feeling negative. Reacting to this, the actress said, “I’ve exorcised my demons; it’s a thing of the past; it needs to be left right there.”

On being called soloist, Aishwarya further said, “I am not a soloist… With me comes my family, my loved ones, people I love and care about very dearly. So there is an obvious wall. Yes there is; and there is no denial of it.”
