Filipino actress Carmina Villarroel and her husband, actor Zoren Legaspi, have recently come under public scrutiny due to the resurfacing of past remarks concerning relationships and women’s appearances. Legaspi responded humorously, stating, “Tsaka usapan namin iyon, divorce na ‘pag tumaba siya,” which translates to, “We agreed that if she gains weight, we’ll divorce.” He elaborated on the importance of physical attraction in maintaining love, suggesting that neglecting one’s appearance could lead to diminished affection.

Additionally, a 2022 interview featuring Villarroel has drawn criticism. She posed questions about women’s choices in makeup and attire, implying judgments about their character based on their appearance.
