Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino’s romantic comedy ‘My Love Will Make You Disappear’ is proving to be a box-office hit, earning over ₱12 million on its opening day despite online calls for a boycott.

In the Tuesday episode of ‘It’s Showtime’, Kim shared her excitement over the support she received from her co-hosts and production staff, who confirmed their attendance at the film’s grand premiere held that night.

Chiu expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming love and support from fans and colleagues, especially amid the negativity coming from a few online detractors. The actress emphasized how the encouragement they’ve been receiving far outweighs the criticisms.

The KimPau fandom, known for their passionate support of the on-screen tandem, organized 224 block screenings worldwide, further boosting the film’s opening momentum. The number of theaters screening the film also expanded rapidly—from 230 cinemas to over 380, including international locations like Hong Kong where additional showtimes were added due to high demand.

Social media users took to X (formerly Twitter) to share videos and photos of long lines at various cinemas, celebrating the film’s successful launch. One fan from Dumaguete posted images of moviegoers lining up at Robinsons Movieworld, while others celebrated additional screenings announced abroad.

As of writing, Star Cinema has yet to release the official total gross, but projections suggest a strong opening week for the film. Meanwhile, Chiu and Avelino have been making rounds in cinemas to personally thank fans for their support.
