A controversy came full circle for ABS-CBN actress Kim Chiu but recalling that time in her career, she almost did this.

Amid the tough times and challenges brought by strict lockdowns because of the pandemic, one personality has caught the attention of many because of her remark – a gaffe that created a loud buzz online. This personality is Kim Chiu and her viral “Bawal Lumbas” statement.

“Sa classroom may batas, bawal lumabas, oh bawal lumabas. Pero ‘pag sinabi, ‘pag nag-comply ka na bawal na lumabas pero may ginawa ka sa pinagbabawal nila, inayos mo ‘yong law ng classroom niyo at sinumbit mo ulit ay pwede na pala ikaw lumabas.”

She received backlash online because of this statement, however, things went full circle for her. This painful experience has become a big blessing for her. From being a viral and controversial blunder, it became a trending song, merchandise for a cause, a series, and has inspired a movie.

Kim was deeply affected by this issue and recently, in an episode of It’s Showtime, she was asked about the rock bottom in her career and this issue was accordingly her rock bottom.

“Yung bawal lumabas! Uuwi na ‘kong Canada talaga!” she said. This issue has affected her so much she wanted to pack her bags to escape the backlash and go to Canada. She wanted to give up acting and her showbiz career at that time but what was actually in was a setback for greater things.

She added based on the video, “Kasi lahat ng tao sobrang bobong-bobo na sa akin. Yung parang ano to? Nakasagasa ba ‘ko ng isang barangay?”

But for Vice Ganda, what happened to her showed that being smart can turn things around from being a misfortune to a blessing. What mattered most was how she was able to get up from falling down to one of the lowest points in her life.
