Responding to speculations among fans, Nadine Lustre and Christophe Bariou set the record straight, stressing that they have yet to be engaged.

Engagement speculations earlier hounded the couple after Lustre shared a note from Bariou about discovering and conquering the world together.

“Man, oh man, you’re my best friend. I scream it to the nothingness,” the actress addressed Bariou at the time, which apparently made netizens more curious.

Lustre and Bariou went live on Instagram on Wednesday, Nov. 13, showing themselves making a sandwich. The couple talked about several topics during the livestream, including their take on announcing engagement.

“If you would propose to me, would we announce it or we’re gonna keep it private—I said, honestly, it doesn’t really matter,” Lustre said. “Because I feel like if we have our friends around, I feel like they’re gonna be the first ones to post.”

“Let’s leave it at that. I just clarified that because I don’t want people, like, assuming,” she added.

At the latter part of the livestream, Bariou made an outright clarification on the rumors.

“Before we leave, one last thing—” Lustre said, to which Bariou continued, “We’re not engaged.”

“That’s not what I’m gonna say,” Lustre replied, then went on to reveal that she is set to launch a project that she has been working on for three years.

Lustre and Bariou’s relationship was confirmed to the public in January 2022.
