Duterte Claims Marcos Uses Heroin – What’s the Truth?

Duterte Claims Marcos Jr. is Addicted to Illegal Drugs

DUTERTE – Former President Rodrigo Duterte claims that President Marcos Jr. is addicted to illegal drugs, sparking controversy and calls for clarification.

Duterte has once again accused President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. of being addicted to illegal drugs, specifically heroin. Duterte made the controversial statement during the proclamation rally of the Partido ng Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) senatorial candidates at Club Filipino in San Juan City on Thursday.

Based on a report from Cebu Daily News, Duterte asserted that Marcos Jr.’s alleged long-term drug use would have severe consequences, stating that by the age of 80, the president would likely be immobile.

“Merong isang presidente na talagang bangag. [Hindi naman] buang, pero ‘yung bisyo ng droga long term ‘yan. Maging ulol si Marcos. Maybe constant use of heroin — aabot pa siguro siya ng 80, pero sa panahon na ‘yan, hindi na siya gumagalaw,” Duterte remarked.

He further speculated that, due to the alleged drug use, Marcos Jr. would either remain standing in his room or be asleep most of the time. “Either nakatindig lang yan sa kwarto niya or natutulog,” he added.

Duterte did not provide any evidence to support his claim but has made similar accusations in the past. In 2024, he alleged that Marcos Jr. was a drug user and claimed that the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) had shown him evidence supporting this assertion.

The allegations prompted Marcos Jr. to respond, turning the tables on Duterte by accusing him of using fentanyl, a powerful opioid often prescribed for severe pain. The exchange between the two political figures highlighted the ongoing rift between their camps, which was further underscored by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos’ admission that she had snubbed Vice President Sara Duterte due to her father’s repeated accusations against the president.

The tensions between the Marcos and Duterte camps have intensified in recent months, with both parties engaging in public disputes. Duterte’s latest claim adds to the growing friction, potentially impacting political alliances and the national political landscape.

As of now, the Marcos administration has not officially responded to Duterte’s renewed allegations. Meanwhile, the public awaits further developments, with some demanding concrete evidence to substantiate these claims while others dismiss them as part of ongoing political mudslinging.
